Interview: Insights into experiences and developments at GOI
1. Beginning at GOI:
How did you come to join the German Online Institute, and what motivated you to work here as a German teacher?
Before GOI, I worked as a German teacher for a Swiss online school led by Nina. She founded GOI a few years later, and I followed her because her innovative work methods and organization were very convincing to me.
2. Developments and Changes:
Since joining in 2013, much has changed. Which developments at GOI have particularly impressed you?
The successful and continuous growth from initially 5 online German teachers to over 60 today.
3. Technological Challenges:
What technological innovations posed the greatest challenges for you, and how did you adapt?
The introduction of “Google Education” with various tools. Thanks to internal short training sessions and informational materials, I was able to quickly acquire these skills.
4. Changes and Teaching Methods:
Which changes at GOI had the most positive influence on your work, and how have these changed your teaching methods?
There have been changes from the beginning, as GOI is constantly evolving. My teaching methods adapt and also align with the students, who nowadays come to class with different expectations than 10 years ago.
5. Motivation and Long-term Activity:
What motivates you to continue working at GOI after all these years?
For me, GOI is like a startup with a well-thought-out business plan. New ideas constantly stimulate and make the work more interesting.
6. Team Collaboration:
You brought your acquaintances Doris and Julia C. to GOI. How is the collaboration with them and the rest of the team?
Good, primarily we support and help each other as we also know each other personally. The teacher chat offers us a quick and easy way to collaborate with other colleagues.
7. Relationship with the Executive Level:
How do you perceive your interaction with the executive level and how has this relationship developed over the years?
A good feeling, as there is direct contact with the executive level and personal ideas and opinions are considered.
8. Future Projects:
Which future projects or developments at GOI are you particularly looking forward to and why?
I am open to any project, the main thing is that GOI continues despite the growing competition.
