Frequently Asked Questions

  • You can flexibly choose your lesson duration: 30 minutes (for kids up to 14 years), 60, 90, or 120 minutes. If you need to adjust, simply inform your dedicated teacher, who will update your slots accordingly.

  • Your teacher could be native, bilingual, or non-native—what matters is expertise, availability, and the right personality fit. We carefully match you with a teacher who:

✔️ Is a certified DaF (German as a Foreign Language) expert with deep language and teaching knowledge.
✔️ Fits your schedule, so learning stays flexible and convenient.
✔️ Matches your learning style and personality, making lessons enjoyable and effective.
✔️ Is patient, engaging, and supportive, helping you stay motivated long-term.

We don’t focus on nativeness—we focus on finding the best teacher for you.

💡 Worried About Accents? You won’t pick up your teacher’s accent, but if perfect pronunciation is your goal, we offer an Accent Masterclass with a native pronunciation coach. Simply contact us.

  • No, our courses focus exclusively on High German to ensure clear, standardized language learning.

Even native speakers from Switzerland, Germany, or Austria do not actively learn regional dialects outside their own—they simply learn to understand them (if needed on a daily basis), not speak them.

A regional dialect is a sign of cultural identity, reflecting where someone grew up. Since you are not from Switzerland or a specific German region, there is no need to learn a dialect like Swiss German, Bavarian, Saxonian, or Hessian.

📌 What matters most? First, master High German—this will enable you to understand dialects over time. If you’re interested in regional accents, you can immerse yourself through radio, TV, and other media in dialect.

💡 Will native speakers use dialect with me?

No need to worry—all native speakers can speak High German and will naturally use it in professional settings and conversations with non-native speakers. If someone speaks a strong dialect, simply ask them to switch to High German—they will, with no problem.

  • Rescheduling Policy

You can reschedule your lesson up to 24 hours in advance using the reschedule link in:
    ✔️ Your booking confirmation email
    ✔️ The calendar app
✔️ Your private calendar appointment (if added)

This is a self-management system, giving you flexibility while respecting our teachers’ time.

📌 Important: If you do not reschedule within this timeframe, the lesson is fully charged (100%), regardless of the reason for missing it. This policy is fair for all students and helps us maintain high-quality teaching by ensuring stable working conditions for our teachers.

  • Your teacher will wait during your booked time, but the session ends as scheduled—missed time cannot be made up or rescheduled.

📌 More than 15 minutes late without giving notice?

The lesson will be marked as missed and fully charged, but your teacher will share materials and assignments with you.

  • You can start your course anytime by requesting a teacher match. Simply complete a free trial lesson request to get started.

—Lessons are available from 7 AM to 11 PM CET, 7 days a week.

  • Personalized Teacher Matching

📌 Please note: If your requested teacher is unavailable or not the right fit, another qualified teacher will reach out.

  • No, Google Meet and Google Classroom work directly in your browser—no installation needed.

    📌 Using a Work Computer?
If your company restricts Google services, ask your IT department to whitelist:
    ✔️ Google Meet for lessons
✔️ Google Classroom for course materials

If full access isn’t possible, they may be able to whitelist your teacher’s permanent Meet link and Classroom individually.

    📌 Alternative Solutions:
✔️ Use a private Google account – Access Meet and Classroom with your personal account. Your course files will be stored in your Google Drive, available on any device.
✔️ Switch devices – If your work laptop blocks access, join lessons via phone, tablet, or personal computer.
✔️ VPN for Restricted Countries – If Google services are blocked in your region, a VPN may help.

  • Shape Your Lessons with Feedback

If you’re new, share your preferences in the trial request form, and we’ll match you with the right teacher.

Your 1:1 or private group lessons thrive on feedback. Teachers need your input, interests, and goals to tailor lessons effectively. Simply attending without sharing won’t maximize your progress.

📌 Make the most of your lessons:
✔️ After each session, mention what you liked, disliked, and want to focus on next.
✔️ Have specific needs? Let your long-term teacher know! Planning a theater visit? They’ll prepare a lesson around it. Prefer less grammar? They’ll adjust accordingly.

  • Yes, all materials are provided digitally.

Your teacher may recommend to purchase an optional course book or optional additional resources for extra practice.

We recommend interactive, digital course books from Hueber Publishing with built-in audio, video, and online writing tools. These allow you to share your screen and collaborate with your teacher in real time.

📌 Already have a course book? Let your teacher know—they may have it and can incorporate it into your lessons!
